Features

This page outlines the features available in both editions of our INTERKOM Phone Systems, INTERKOM CLOUD and INTERKOM PREMISE. You can use as many features as you like or only a few. They can be added as you become more familiar with the system or business needs arise. Feel free to call us anytime so we can answer the question… “Is it possible to have the system do….”

Further down on this page you will find a downloadable form that shows a feature comparison between INTERKOM CLOUD and INTERKOM PREMISE

Portability – Can move phones to other locations easily

Transfer – Choose the extension you want a call to go toand press the transfer button – you can announce or do a blind transfer

Speed Dial Buttons – Can be used to see status of other extensions, dial them, or dial an outside number such as a cell phone

BLF Buttons – Busy Lamp Field Buttons :  allows you to see the status of other extension on buttons – such as on the phone, ringing etc. Used by operators receptionists and managers typically

Caller ID and Name – can see this information on the phone whether your phone was ringing from the outside call or if it is transferred. Also viewable in your history

Call History Log – Allows you to scroll through all calls with name, phone number, time and date

Global Call History via Browser – If you desire access to a portal on the phone system you can see call history across all phones in your business. This is kept in memory but phone history is lost is phone is rebooted or is over 99 entries

Redial – Gives you a handy was to redial numbers you recently made

Local Hold – Used when you put a call on hold and retrieve it from the same phone.

Call Park – Allows you to put a call on hold (actually park) and pick it up from any extension. This feature replaces the older phone system feature when you call out.. “Hey John you have a call on Line 1” – but today you would use the page button to say.. “John you have a call on Park 1” then watch as your park light goes out, signifying John has picked up the call. You can also retrieve it yourself by selecting your park button if John does not get it

Forward – forward to another extension or external number – like a cell phone

Group Status on Buttons – if you are part of a service department you can see of the group has voicemails via an indicator on one of your phone buttons

Individual Voicemail – Everyone can have their own voicemail, with or without a password

Additional Phone Numbers – aka DID’s, Accepts additional phone numbers (DIDs) or departmental phone numbers

Auto Attendants – You can have as many nested auto attendants as required and have different ones for open and closed times.

Call Routing by time of day – An incoming line can be routing to a certain group of phones during the day and then an auto attendant at night. The choices are limited only by your imagination and business needs.

Ring Groups or Hunt Groups – (collective, round robin, least busy) Collective rings all designated extensions at the same time. Round robin starts at the first extension listed and goes to the next for subsequent calls or within a certain “hunt time”, and least busy rings the extension with the shortest talk time in the group.

Call Queuing – is a more advanced type of hunt group consisting of users logged into a defined group of extensions (now called Agents) – the group is usually a departmental collection of Agents such as a Sales or Service Group. If all agents are busy, the caller hears an announcement saying that “All Agents are busy, please hold”, then they hear music or general company announcements, and another hold message. When an Agent becomes free their phone rings and the caller who has been holding the longest gets connected to this now free Agent

Call Recording – By pressing a specially programmed button on your phone, both sides are recorded as a voicemail message which you can retrieve for later playback. If you have voicemail to email enabled, this will be sent as an attachment to your email address.

Whisper Page, Coaching, Call Monitoring – These three features are great for managers that want to coach new sales or customer service personnel. When coupled with a chat window, managers can listen in and offer advice via the chat, or “whisper” into the reps ear (phone) and the customer will not hear what the manager said. Call monitoring allows only listening in, coaching allows you to whisper coach, and whisper page allows you to barge into a conversation and say something like “That hot sales lead is on hold and wants to talk with you”, all without the other party hearing what you said – only your co-worker hears the announcement

Handsfree Intercom – This allows a handsfree page without the paged parties intervention. An example would be to Handsfree Intercom a break room phone and say “Is Mary there? – she has a person waiting up front” and anyone in the room can shout back a rep

Paging – Page through phone speaker – Your phone system comes with a built-in paging system. Designate which phones you would like pages to come from, all or most. We usually exclude executives and conference rooms. You decide. There are also options whether your phone should do paging if you are on a call or not. You may choose to have additional phones in certain areas with their speakers turned up to round out the coverage area.

Music on Hold – Basic music on hold is available in both systems. BASIC allows for a choice of 10 different styles. PLUS allows you to choose from the 10 styles or have us upload your own content in MP3 or WAV format, as long as it is royalty free music.

Music on Hold with Announcements (customized) – PLUS includes one free music file with a custom recorded messages about your business inserted into royalty free music at various intervals. You choose the musical genre. This will portray a professional image to yoru customers while on hold and provide further information about any services or specials you are currently offering. We have a professional recording studio at our offices to produce this recording. Additional messages are available for $75 each. These are often used as specials change or to provide holiday messages to callers.

Business Continuity – Failover if Internet goes down. We are proud to be one of the few companies offering this service at no additional charge. Simply let us know what you would like to happen. It can be an auto attendant that allows users to make choices for the Service department, Sales group. or just leave a message. Our cloud based system will call a designated cell phone in the relative department, an answering service, or one of your other locations. We will help you tailor a failover system that keeps you in contact with your customers – no matter what. And remember that any voicemail messages left can go to an individual or group email blast. This works independently of your sites on-line status. That’s the PLUS of having your PBX “in the cloud”.

Overhead Paging – Can connect to external paging speakers – If you have an existing wired paging system, our PLUS system, along with an adapter, can connect to your current wired paging system. A button on your phone will access the wired paging system. Any phone paging will be done from a separate button. If you have multiple zones of paging, each zone would be set up as a separate extension number. Overhead paging on our systems require an additional charge for interfacing, depending on the number of zones needed.

Uses Phones By – With our systems, you can choose what manufacturer of phones you prefer. Some are more traditional while others feature a touch screen display resembling a smart phone. It depends on your users comfort level and familiarity with tech. For our BASIC system only Yealink and Fanvil phones have been approved, but the variety of models is wide so it is easy to provide users with a model they can be comfortable with. The PLUS system offers the widest variety of phones, and also many refurbished phone models are available for even greater cost savings. You can mix and match manufacturers and models if you wish on the PLUS version of our INTERKOM system.

Reconditioned Phone Compatibility – from time to time we procure phones from other companies. These phones have come off-lease and were typically used in clean office environments. We recondition them to work with our system and can then sell them to you at deeply discounted prices. Use these phones in areas where there are spare desks, out in the shop and other areas where a modern phone style is not required, yet full feature functionality is. Reconditioned phones work primarily in our INTERKOM PLUS series.

Cost of Hardware – The up-front cost for phones is quite low when compared to a traditional onsite PBX. With our system you are only paying for the phones – not an onsite controller PBX and all the licenses that typically make the upfront costs higher. If you ever priced an onsite system by Avaya, Mitel, or NEC you will understand. The reason the PLUS system has a lower cost for hardware is that it can use a wide variety of reconditioned phones like those made by older Yealink, Polycom, Aastra, and Grandstream

Monthly Charge – Our monthly charge is very competitive when compared to other cloud based services, as the majority of our features are not add-ons, but included in our Seat or Channel monthly fee. We also offer quantity discounts. When you hit four or more phones or channels, the price drops from $30.00 to $25.00 per month.
